I’m a digital content creator and storyteller.
Formerly Playbill’s first-ever Director of Social Media and Creative Strategy and first Black female department head, Felicia is regarded as a pioneer of Broadway social media, revolutionizing Playbill’s social engagement and storytelling strategies during the time Broadway was shaping its own digital landscape. She specializes in social media strategy and cultivating online communities.
Let’s start from the very beginning…
Since I was a youngin’, I have loved to tell stories. My innate dramatic flair drew me to enthusiastically tell stories in two ways: on stage and on (digital) paper.
Storytelling led to a childhood filled with Nutcrackers and musicals, and subsequently to the University of Texas at Austin, where I graduated with a B.A. in Theatre and Dance (with a concentration in African American Performance). I worked as a dramaturg, choreographer, and performer on numerous UT and regional theater productions.
Simultaneously, I developed a zest for digital content and social media as a Longhorn Confidential writer, Her Campus Texas’ editor-in-chief, and as a contributor for Teen Vogue, BuzzFeed, Shine Text, and Femsplain. Read select highlights here.
Most recently, I was Playbill’s Director of Social Media and Creative Strategy. It allowed me to perfectly combine my theatre fan-girl passion with my social media skills to make Broadway more accessible to its most loyal fans—its online community. I’ve become an influencer and thought-leader in the industry, with continuous opportunities to share my knowledge, like AOL Build’s Tony Awards episode, TedxBroadway’s Young Professional program, and various panels. Learn more about my work here.
Independently, I launched “call and response”, a podcast that explores the intersection of blackness and performing arts. Guests have included Tony nominees Adrienne Warren and Denée Benton, Olivier nominee Kyle Scatliffe, and Grammy winner Nathan Lee Graham. Listen (and read about) it here.
Exciting news: I don’t plan to stop storytelling anytime soon! Need to keep content so fresh ‘n’ so digital? I’m your girl. Want positivity and enthusiasm brought to your project? I gotchu.
